Kia Prices the 2027 K4 From $22,390, Raising Every Sedan and Hatchback Trim by Just $100

The compact sedan and hatchback carry over almost unchanged for 2027, with the same $1,245 destination fee, two engines and a turbo model that costs $2,900 more than the trim below it.

Key takeaway: The 2027 Kia K4 sedan starts at $22,390 and the K4 Hatchback at $25,090 before a $1,245 destination fee, $100 more than the 2026 models across every trim.

Kia America announced pricing for the 2027 K4 on September 30, 2026, and the news is mostly that there isn't much. The compact sedan starts at $22,390 for the LX and the K4 Hatchback at $25,090 for the EX, both before a $1,245 destination charge. CarBuzz, which compared the list with last year's, puts the increase at $100 on every trim, with the destination fee unchanged. With delivery included, the cheapest K4 comes to $23,635. Kia says the cars will begin arriving at dealers in the coming weeks.

The sedan lineup runs through five trims: LX at $22,390, LXS at $23,590, EX at $24,590, GT-Line at $25,590 and GT-Line Turbo at $28,490. The hatchback skips the two cheapest versions and comes as an EX at $25,090, a GT-Line at $26,090 and a GT-Line Turbo at $28,990. That makes the hatchback premium a flat $500 wherever both body styles are offered, a small price for a larger cargo opening. The catch is at the bottom of the range: because there is no LX or LXS hatchback, the least expensive hatch costs $2,700 more than the least expensive sedan.

Equipment changes for 2027 are cosmetic. The GT-Line Premium Package now brings 18-inch black alloy wheels on both body styles, and GT-Line and GT-Line Turbo sedans can pair a red interior with Steel Gray paint. Nothing mechanical is new, which is not a criticism of a car that was redesigned and renamed only two model years ago, when it replaced the Forte.

Most K4s use a 2.0-liter four-cylinder making 147 horsepower and 132 pound-feet of torque, driving the front wheels through Kia's continuously variable transmission. That is a modest output for a car that weighs between about 2,900 and 3,300 pounds, and it is tuned for economy rather than pace: Kia lists the 2.0-liter sedan at 29 mpg city, 39 highway and 33 combined. With a 12.4-gallon tank, that works out to roughly 400 miles between fill-ups in mixed driving. The 2.0-liter hatchback gives some of that back; the EPA rated the 2026 version at 28 city, 34 highway and 30 combined.

The GT-Line Turbo is a different car to drive, and it is priced like one. Its 1.6-liter turbocharged engine makes 190 horsepower and 195 pound-feet, the torque arriving from 1,700 rpm, and it uses a conventional eight-speed automatic instead of the CVT. Fuel economy drops to 26 city, 33 highway and 28 combined. The step from GT-Line to GT-Line Turbo is $2,900 in either body style. CarBuzz notes that GT-Line models also get an independent multi-link rear suspension in place of the torsion beam used on the lower trims, so the regular GT-Line, at $25,590, already has the better chassis without the cost of the turbo engine.

Where the K4 earns its place is space and safety for the money. Kia's specifications list 38.0 inches of rear legroom and a 14.6-cubic-foot trunk in the sedan, on a 107.1-inch wheelbase and at 185.4 inches long overall, which is large for the compact class. The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety gave the 2026 K4 its top award, Top Safety Pick+, with Good ratings in the small overlap, updated moderate overlap and updated side tests; that rating covers 2025 and 2026 models built after January 2025. IIHS has not yet published a 2027 listing, though the car is unchanged.

Price is the K4's other argument. CarBuzz calls it the cheapest sedan on sale in America, undercutting the Hyundai Elantra, Nissan Sentra and Honda Civic, and a $100 increase does nothing to change that. It is worth setting that against what this market has done lately: Subaru cut the 2027 Impreza to $24,595 a week earlier to win back buyers it lost when it dropped its cheapest trim, and that car comes with all-wheel drive as standard. The K4 LX is still $2,205 below it, but the comparison is no longer as one-sided as it was a year ago for anyone who drives in snow.

For most buyers the decision inside the K4 range is simple. The LX is the one to buy if the monthly payment is what matters. The GT-Line is the sensible middle, because the suspension upgrade is something you feel on every drive. The hatchback is worth $500 if you carry bulky things, at a cost of about 3 mpg in combined driving with the 2.0-liter engine. As with any pricing announcement, these are MSRPs: what you pay will depend on dealer stock and incentives once the 2027 cars arrive, and any remaining 2026 models, which are mechanically identical, are likely to be the better deal while they last.
